Admission, hours and payment
How much does it cost to enter the trails?
Admission is ₡5,000 per person and children under 12 enter free. It includes both trails, with no limit on laps, and access to the waterfall. We accept cards, SINPE Móvil and cash.
What are your hours?
We are open Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are closed on Mondays.
Are there guides, or do I need to book?
The trails are self-guided and you don't need to book for individual or family visits. If you are coming with a large group, message us on WhatsApp to coordinate.
Is there parking?
Yes, parking is free.
Trails
Which trail is best for kids or beginners?
The Las Vacas Trail. It is moderate, 1.5 to 2 hours, and goes through pasture and open country. The Jilguero Trail is more demanding, with steeper slopes and possible mud.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, pets are welcome on both trails as long as they are on a leash and you pick up after them.
La Escapadita waterfall
How far is the walk to the waterfall?
The waterfall is 1 km from the entrance, about a 15-minute walk.
Can you swim at the waterfall?
Yes, but the water is ice cold. If it has rained a lot, we don't recommend it because of the risk.
Do I pay extra for the waterfall?
No. The waterfall visit is included in the ₡5,000 per person admission. Children under 12 enter free.
What should I bring to the waterfall?
A change of clothes, comfortable shoes with good grip, water and sun protection.
El Granero Restaurant
Do I need a reservation at El Granero?
No, we don't take reservations. You arrive and we seat you. If you are coming with a large group, message us on WhatsApp first.
How much does it cost to eat at El Granero?
Breakfasts are around ₡4,000 and lunches around ₡5,000. The Siempre dish, with beef tenderloin and onions, costs ₡6,000. The full menu is on the menu page.
How many people fit in the restaurant?
We have room for about 35 people seated.
What food do you serve?
Traditional Costa Rican food: breakfasts, casados, fish tacos, snacks, desserts and drinks.
Is there a vegetarian option?
Yes, the casado has a vegetarian option with egg.
Country Cottage
How do I book the Country Cottage?
Reservations are made only through Airbnb, where you can see availability and the price for your dates.
How many people fit in the Country Cottage?
Up to 4 guests, or 5 with the sofa bed. It has 2 bedrooms.
Are pets allowed in the cottage?
Yes, pets are welcome.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, it includes breakfast at El Granero, Tuesday to Sunday.
Is admission to the trails and waterfall included?
Yes, admission to the trails and the waterfall is included for guests.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, there is Wi-Fi and free parking.
Groups and companies
How many people can you host in a group?
We host groups of up to 35 people with our normal operation. Larger events require additional logistics that we coordinate beforehand.
How do I get a quote for my company or group?

Where is Escape Poasito?
